District Preschool/ETK Advisory Committee, DPAC, is designed for parents of preschool and extended kindergarten children.  At DPAC meetings, information is shared regarding the PS/ETK programs, our goals, assessments and developmental expectations. It is in these meetings that parents learn how the PS/ETK programs align to the State Standards for kindergarten and why either a PS or ETK program will prepare their child(ren) for kindergarten.  It is our hope that parents will share their thoughts and ideas about how to make our preschool program more inclusive while building family involvement and quality.  The DPAC meetings will be held at Longfellow's Parent Center, Room 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on September 21, November 16, February 15, and April 18, 2023. 

This committee is composed of parents whose children speak another language other than English as their first language. This committee is designed to allow parents to give advice and input into the programs we currently have or need to incorporate at Longfellow Elementary to help their children be as successful as possible while learning a new language ( English).

Any parent/caregiver is welcome to attend these meetings; however, as we select a chairperson for this committee, he/she must have a child enrolled/designated as an English Learner. 

Parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to volunteer in the classrooms and attend field trips. Parents/guardians who wish to attend field trips must be fingerprinted as arranged through the Azusa Unified School District and clearance verified before attendance on a field trip is granted.  No exceptions will be made. Parents/guardians who volunteer develop a stronger bond with their child and are more enlightened about how their child is developing.
